Lumina is a revolutionary line of smart lighting solutions and IoT devices developed by Enlighten Technologies. Designed to transform the way people interact with and experience lighting, Lumina elevates environments with intelligent, sustainable, and user-friendly innovation. The brand aims to go beyond illumination—enhancing well-being, productivity, and lifestyle through smart, connected technology.

Understanding the Need

The challenge was to create a visual identity for Lumina that reflects its visionary spirit and sets it apart in the crowded smart lighting industry. Competitors often focus solely on functionality or futuristic aesthetics. Lumina needed to embody something deeper, a human-centered, sustainable, and innovative brand that could resonate with eco-conscious consumers and technology adopters alike.

The new brand identity had to symbolize evolution, sustainability, and connectivity, while being versatile enough for both product lines and digital ecosystems.

Crafting the Creative Direction

The creative direction was guided by Lumina’s core values: innovation, user-centric design, sustainability, and connectivity. My approach was to craft a visual identity that seamlessly bridges technology and nature, modern yet organic, futuristic yet approachable.

The identity had to feel illuminating in every sense, radiating clarity, adaptability, and warmth. It needed to inspire trust while positioning Lumina as both a lifestyle brand and a tech pioneer.

The Challenge

The main challenge was balancing cutting-edge innovation with eco-friendly authenticity. Too much emphasis on tech could alienate the sustainability-conscious audience. Too much focus on “green” could make Lumina blend into the wider eco-product space.

I had to strike a middle ground: a design system that communicates both technological brilliance and natural harmony.

Finding the Solution

The solution was to develop a layered visual identity built around illumination and evolution:

  • Logo Design: A versatile mark inspired by natural light sources—radiant yet minimal—symbolizing growth, sustainability, and forward motion.

  • Color Palette: A harmony of vibrant and high-contrast colors balanced with clean white, reflecting modern energy.

  • Typography: A clean, geometric sans-serif paired with a softer humanist typeface, reinforcing both clarity and approachability.

The Design Process

I refined each component of the identity to ensure it aligned with Lumina’s mission and adaptability across applications:

  • Logo System: Flexible across packaging, digital platforms, and IoT device markings.

  • Typography System: Prioritized readability for interfaces, apps, and product labels.

  • Color Framework: Built for digital environments but equally effective in physical packaging.

  • Packaging Design: Eco-friendly materials with minimal ink usage, designed for both retail shelves and online unboxing experiences.

  • Digital Presence: Website and social templates built around dynamic visuals, storytelling sustainability and innovation in tandem.

The Results

The final identity positioned Lumina as:
